Electrophysiologic Properties and Response

چکیده
We used standard nicroketrode to record action potentials of human right trial fibers obtained during cardiac surgery, and correlated these potential with dinical and preoperative ECG data. Human atrial fibers were classified as follows: Group A (ten patients) had a maximum diastolic potential (MDP) of -71.4 ± 5.1 mV (mea ± SD), and actin potentials that were primarily fast pe These atria were normal or sdghty dilated. In group B (12 patients) MDP was 50.3 ± 5.7 mV; action potentials were slow responses and the atria were moderately to

Background: Diabetic Neuropathy is the most common and troublesome complication of Diabetes Mellitus, leading to the greatest morbidity and mortality and resulting in a huge economic burden for diabetes care. Early diagnosis of distal symmetric sensorimotor polyneuropathy, a common complication of diabetes, may decrease morbidity by allowing potential therapeutic interventions. Methods: In 6...

متن کاملElectrophysiologic characteristics of large neurons in dorsal root ganglia during development and after hind paw incision in the rat.
BACKGROUND Withdrawal thresholds in the paw are lower in younger animals, and incision further reduces these thresholds. The authors hypothesized that these differences result in part from changes in intrinsic electrophysiologic properties of large neurons. METHODS Using isolated whole dorsal root ganglion, current clamping was performed to determine the electrophysiologic properties of large...
متن کاملThe plasma catecholamine response to ventricular tachycardia induction and external countershock during electrophysiologic testing.
Adrenergic activation during electrophysiologic study could potentially alter the electrophysiologic properties of the arrhythmia substrate. However, the catecholamine response to ventricular tachycardia induction and termination during electrophysiologic testing has to date not been quantitated. Therefore, in 13 patients undergoing electrophysiologic study, arterial plasma norepinephrine and e...
متن کاملComparison of the results of electrophysiologic testing after short-term and long-term treatment with amiodarone in patients with ventricular tachycardia.
The results of electrophysiologic testing after short-term and long-term treatment with amiodarone were compared in 71 patients with ventricular tachycardia. Electrophysiologic testing was performed in the baseline state after 11 +/- 3 days of treatment with 1.2 to 2.4 gm/day of amiodarone, and after 13 +/- 4 weeks of therapy with a daily amiodarone dose of 400 mg. After short-term therapy, 62%...
متن کاملThe response to procainamide during electrophysiologic study for sustained ventricular tachyarrhythmias predicts the response to other medications.
We evaluated 126 patients with inducible sustained ventricular tachyarrhythmias to assess whether the response to procainamide during electrophysiologic study could predict responses to other conventional antiarrhythmic agents and combinations of agents. Thirty of 42 patients in whom tachycardia was not inducible after the administration of procainamide and 69 of 84 patients in whom ventricular...
